Solar Panel Repair & Re-Commissioning in the RGV
We service systems other companies installed and walked away from.
Many RGV homeowners come to MIBA after the company that sold them solar disappeared, stopped answering the phone, or went out of business. We pick up where they left off — and we keep answering the phone.
We diagnose underperforming systems, replace failed inverters and microinverters, repair monitoring connections, swap broken panels, and re-commission systems that have been offline for months or years.
Common service calls in the Valley: Enphase Envoy monitoring offline, string inverter failure after 6–8 years, single panel underperforming after a storm, AEP Texas net-metering issues, and Powerwall re-commissioning after a roof replacement.
We service every major brand — Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA, Tesla, Fronius — regardless of who installed the system originally. Bring us the equipment and we'll bring it back online.
We service the systems other companies abandoned
The Rio Grande Valley absorbed a wave of out-of-state solar sales operations that sold aggressively, installed quickly, and closed up. Homeowners are left with a roof full of hardware, a loan, an app that stopped reporting, and a service number that goes nowhere. MIBA Energy repairs those systems. We did not sell them, we are not going to lecture you about them, and we will fix them.
We work on any brand: Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius, Tesla, Generac, APsystems. Repair begins with an actual diagnosis — a site visit, live measurements at the array and the inverter, and a review of the monitoring history — rather than a phone estimate. You get findings in writing and a quoted fix before we touch anything.
Inverter replacement and electronics failure
Inverters are the most common failure point in a Valley system, and the reason is heat. A string inverter mounted on a west-facing wall in South Texas lives at temperatures that shorten its service life, and many were installed in exactly that spot because it was the fast place to hang it. We replace failed inverters, and when we do we relocate or shade the new unit so the replacement lasts longer than the original.
Microinverter and optimizer failures show up as one or two panels flatlining while everything else looks normal. Those units are frequently still under manufacturer warranty even when the installing company is gone — we file the claim, handle the RMA, and charge you for labor rather than for hardware you already own.
Monitoring, comms, and production troubleshooting
A large share of the calls we get start with the app going dark. Sometimes that is a genuine production failure and sometimes it is only a communications gateway that lost the Wi-Fi network after a router change. We re-establish the gateway, transfer the monitoring account into your name — a step skipped constantly by rushed installers — and confirm you can see per-panel data again.
When production really has fallen off, we look for the causes we see repeatedly in the Valley: caked dust and hard-water film on the glass, birds and their nesting debris under the array, breakers tripped and never reset, corroded connectors near the coast, and shade from vegetation that grew several feet since installation. Each of those has a different fix, and none of them require a new system.
Storm damage, insurance claims, and re-commissioning
After hail or high wind we perform a documented damage inspection: photographs, glass and backsheet condition, racking and attachment integrity, roof penetration condition, and electrical safety checks. We supply that report in a form your adjuster can use, and we work directly with your insurer's process. If panels must be replaced, we source the closest electrical match so your strings stay balanced.
For systems that have been offline or neglected, we offer full re-commissioning: torque-check every connection, test string voltages and continuity, verify grounding, confirm rapid shutdown function, clean the array, update firmware, and restore monitoring. You end with a written baseline showing what the system should produce, so you can tell next year whether it is still healthy.
Solar repair FAQs
Will you work on a system you did not install? Yes — that is the majority of our repair work, regardless of who installed it or whether that company still exists.
Is my equipment still under warranty? Often, yes. Panel and inverter warranties belong to the equipment, not the installer. We look up your serial numbers and pursue the manufacturer claim on your behalf.
