How to avoid bad solar deals in Texas
The Rio Grande Valley is a hotspot for door-to-door solar sales — and unfortunately, a hotspot for misleading contracts. We wrote this section to protect homeowners, even if you never call us. If a company refuses to give you the answers below in writing, that is your signal to walk away.

Inflated production estimates
If a salesperson promises 100% bill offset without analyzing 12 months of your AEP Texas usage, walk away. Real designs are based on real data.

25-year leases with hidden escalators
Many national companies push leases that raise your payment 2.9% every year for 25 years. Read the escalator clause — or better, just own your system.

Out-of-state install crews
If the sales office is in Texas but the install crew flies in, you have no one to call in year three when something goes wrong. Local matters.
